Cough and breathlessness

Dear Doctor: My mother (78 years) is suffering from cough since last 3-4 months. She admitted in hospital with shortness in breath. She felt breathless. Her X-rays and CT Scan of chest was almost clear (small fluid in lungs), KFT and LFT tests were negative. ECG, ECO and BNP tests were normal. Final diagnosis: Non Cardiogenic, Pulmonary Edema? PE? Reversible Inflammatory/ Hypothroidism, Typical Pneamonia?

The route cause of problem is not known. Please help.
