I am suffering from chronic constipation

Dear Doctor: I am suffering from chronic constipation.from 6years ,using heavy dose of laxatives for relief,ex.softovac powder 5 spoons daily. No thyroid calcium levels, CT Colonograph all are normal.?

Dear Patient: Hi,
1. If earlier you had taken any one of Triphala ( Haritaki,Vibhitaki or Behda) for a long time. Then your colon will not respond to Isphagul husk ( Isabgol)
2. Right method to take Isabgol husk for laxative effect is- mix the Powder in a glass, take it and then drink TWO GLASS of lukewarm water.

The action of Isabgol husk is to swell thirty times with stool in the colon. And it creates a pressure of 200mm in colon to evacuate. Which is normally required.
